To protect one's own motorcycle from theft, or to find it after a theft, there are numerous GPS trackers available. These are typically tied to a subscription and the resulting follow-up costs. An economical alternative is provided by Apple's AirTag, which has proven to be an effective theft protection. Due to its small size, it can be hidden from unauthorized individuals and protected by a case attached to the vehicle.
This AirTag Case Set consists of two different cases: one for attaching the AirTag to pipes - for example, at a suitable location on the frame - and a variant that can be easily attached to various locations using a high-quality 3M adhesive pad.
How does the AirTag work?
Apple's AirTags emit a secure Bluetooth signal. Since the range of the Bluetooth signal is limited, Apple utilizes the reach of the Find My app's network: AirTags always communicate with the nearest Apple device, regardless of its owner. This device transmits the AirTag's position via iCloud to its owner – securely encrypted and anonymously, as Apple emphasizes, to protect the privacy of both parties.
As the owner, you can locate your AirTag on the map using the Find My app. Apple advertises that AirTags are efficient in terms of battery life and data usage.
Just like an iPhone, the AirTag attached to the motorcycle can also be put into "Lost" mode. The owner of the AirTag automatically receives a notification when a device in the Find My network detects it. Additionally, it's possible to retrieve contact information by tapping the AirTag with an NFC-enabled smartphone.
Due to the global spread of Apple devices, there's a high probability of establishing a connection with even remotely located AirTags and being able to find your stolen motorcycle.
