BMW R18 Protection - Engine Guard

The first protection bar made of 32 mm tube! We opted for this pipe dimension for two reasons: For reasons of strength, to optimally protect the R 18, and for aesthetic reasons. Because only the 32 mm pipe looks balanced and aesthetic on the imposing R 18 - and around the mighty elbow pipes. In addition, we deliberately opted for a closed, one-piece shape of the protective bar, which, in addition to the dimensioning, contributes additional structural rigidity. The high-quality powder-coated protective bar with a clear lacquer finish - perfectly matching the frame - fits discreetly into the overall style of the R 18 and still sets its own coordinated accent. It is no coincidence that the spade-shaped shape is reminiscent of the protective bars of the classic air-cooled BMW boxers.

The engine protection bar is solidly supported at six selected points. The lower struts, which are hinged to the frame beams, were arranged discreetly by our designers so that they do not catch the eye and do not disturb the overall line.

The multi-point attachment ensures that the forces introduced in the event of a fall or tipping over do not occur and act selectively, but are absorbed via the protective bar over all 6 attachment points. The punctual stress caused by force or moment peaks is significantly reduced.
